About Me

My adoration for cosmetics and personal care products began at a very young age,, my obsession with what goes into my body, however, is something that I learned as an adult. Whether it be awful chemicals or icky, sticky gluten, I check my labels. Unfortunately though, that is only half of the battle.Kristen

Finding safe natural and organic beauty products which are also effective is tough part. This is why I created Naturally Dah'ling--I wanted a way to share with friend, family and anyone who's interested my findings for the purest, most natural and utterly effective cosmetic products on the market.

For those who are wondering, I am making commissions off of the affiliate links to the products on these retailers sites. And thankfully so, as this allows me to remain independent of any retailer. This way I am always free to change products if something better comes along, and I have never to recommend anything less than par. My goal from the conception of this site was to share with others valuable insight into which truly natural (and not just those that use the word for marketing) products actually work really well, and are worth every penny.

Naturally Dah'ling is ever evolving. It is a resources that I hope provides you with recommendations for the very best natural and organic make-up, skin care, hair care and nail care products on the market. And since my diagnosis of severe gluten intolerance, I have also gone to great lengths to ensure that every product I recommend here is also gluten-free. I hope that you too find what you're searching for, and I thank you for visiting!

Please feel free to e-mail me at kristen@naturallydahling.com.

Sincerely,
Kristen

 Product Criteria

What requirements must a product meet in order to make it onto Naturally Dah'ling? Each product's ingredient list is checked to ensure that product does not contain any of the top 10 toxic ingredients to avoid, verified gluten-free and then tested by me personally to ensure the product far outperforms its competitors.

There is a stigma that natural beauty products do not work, and that natural cosmetics cannot compete with professional make-ups. I am here to squash those rumors and attest to the fact that pure, natura, gluten-free products can perform meet the highest of standards.

Whether a bit of everyday make-up is what you're looking for, or a red carpet camera-ready look, I am confident that these products do not disappoint in either category.

 My Gluten Intolerance

Two pills a day at age 28, headaches, tummy woes and skin misbehavior. Concidental occurances, or symptoms? Some googling first lead me to wonder if there was not perhaps a correlation between my diet and symptoms.

A couple of months on a self-inflicted food elimination diet, my "symptoms," overall health and waistline were all greatly improved. My doctor quickly agreed that I no longer needed daily medications to lead a normal, healthy life, and I sought out an allergist for testing to confirm the suspicion that I am intolerant to one (or more) of these foods that I was avoiding.

After perhaps the worst doctor's visit of my life, I was still unsure of what was wrong. I had been blood tested, but my prior avoidance of gluten had resulted in a false negative, and I was losing hope of ever properly being diagnosed. Then a fateful meeting of renowned cookbook author and celiac, Jacqueline Mallorca introduced me to the kind doctors and nurses of EnteroLab.

Finally I was diagnosed as severely gluten intolerant, meaning that I inherited genes predisposing me to gluten sensitivity from both mom and dad, which in my case resulted in a heightened case of gluten sensitivity. I also learned that I am intolerant to casein (milk protein). As it turns out, these two intolerances are correlated.

Upon the receipt of my diagnosis, I like many, was not depressed or saddened at the news that I could never safely eat gluten or dairy again. Rather I was so thrilled to have a reason for the prior years of poor health. My hormones had been a wreck, I was constantly sick with throat infections, my skin was always breaking out and my digestive system had seemed to be on strike. But I now knew that by simply avoiding gluten and dairy, these frustrations were a thing of the past.

After my diagnosis, it was a natural, instinctual choice for me to go through my make-up bag and medicine cabinets weeding out and replacing any products containing gluten (and/or dairy). Living a gluten-free life is something I do with gratitude and pride, and it is something I do wholly. I believe that what goes on the skin is absorbed into the body--studies have shown that up to 64% is absorbed into the bloodstream! (SOURCE: Good Housekeeping) So if I don't want gluten in my body, I do not put gluten on my body either.

Spreading awareness of gluten sensitivity is something that I am very passionnate about, which is why I co-founded gluten-free Fox: The World's Gluten-Free Search Engine, with the love of my life, my boyfriend Taylor. If you suspect that you are gluten sensitive and would like to learn more, I invite you to visit GlutenFreeFox.com for more information about celiac disease and gluten intolerance.
